El Yunque Rainforest is the tropical rainforest in Puerto Rico that is served as a home for many animals and a national forest for those that wish to visit. With an average rainfall of 120 inches a year, El Yunque has a very diverse ecosystem and is the home for hundreds of different and unique plants and animals, including the famous coqui frog. The name of El Yunque is a reference to Yuke, which is what the indigenous Taino people define as "white lands".

El Yunque has a number of things to enjoy in this beautiful destination.

One the very popular things to do in El Yunque is to go hiking! If you choose to hike down La Coca trail, you can dive in to one of the natural ponds there and take a nice swim to cool off. And that's not all. If you choose to hike El Angelito trail, there will be a 4km hike that ends with a rope swing dive into a lagoon. El Yunque has many different hiking trails to explore and that vary in difficulty for you to choose from!

In El Yunque, you can also learn about the many different 240 plant species that live there. You can also just enjoy the scenery or even go birdwatching where maybe you can catch a view of the birds that live there, such as the Puerto Rican parrot.
